I get respect for the things I did not do
Taken from a CV of one of my ex students:
“I am fluent in German, Turkish, English and Chinese. I speak well French and Korean.”
She is 22. She asked me to write her a reference letter. There is something wrong with this universe. In some parallel universe in which justice is a norm, I am asking her for the reference letter.
Respect!
have you heard her speaking korean?
when I have been sending cvs for work in czech republic, I got advice to put there that I speak czech (not just learning, but speak).
I do speak czech if topic is good weather, going out for a beer or shopping groceries, but when it comes to work, I don’t think I could use it properly.
I put it now in my skills, but I try to be honest in description (basic knowledge or smth like that)
In her CV she has basic knowledge of Japanese and Latin, I skipped this part on purpose.
😀
respect!
Like they say, languages are the door to the world! I’m catching up, btw. (English, Russian, French (still learning French) and I do infact know how to say Good day, Good morning, Hi!, Nice shirt, here you go, thanks in Chinese mandarin.
Go Milan that is the right attitude! Think of spending few years in China in a school, that is the best way to lear a language.
